Edie Fraser is a consummate entrepreneur, passionate visionary, mentor and philanthropist. Edie's extensive background in support of diversity, women and philanthropy spans more than four decades. Edie Fraser has won more than 35 major diversity, women and philanthropy awards, and she has served on numerous advisory boards. After selling her business, she now serves as Managing Director and Chair of Diversity Executive Search Practice at Diversified Search Ray & Berndtson, the largest woman-founded and owned executive search firm in the United States. The practice is global with offices in more than 35 countries and 61 locations.
After working on health care communications for the federal government, Edie joined an International PR firm and was named head of Consumer Affairs. In 1975, she began her own PR/Public Affairs company as entrepreneurism was in her blood—her parents started the retail stores Casual Corner out of Atlanta, GA.
She is the founder of the Public Affairs Group and the Business Women's Network (BWN), which she sold. She has worked to support more than 250 corporations and organizations and with more than 100 CEO’s in support of women and diversity leadership.
Edie is a keynote speaker for numerous organizations. She is a founding member of the Committee of 200 and is in The Enterprising Women Hall of Fame. Edie received the 2006 eWomenNetwork International Femtor Award for Lifetime Achievement and the 2008 SCORE Award for Small Business Leadership Advocate where she serves on the National Board. Edie has received the Lou Campanellie award as well as the Count-Me-In Leader Entrepreneurial Award. In addition, she received the Artemis award from the Euro-American Women's Council (EAWC), the First Global ATHENA Award and the AmeriGroupWomen of Color Award.
Edie serves on the Office Depot Women's Advisory Board and earlier formed the Women's Advisory Board for Inter-Continental Hotels. She is on the Advisory Board of Enterprising Women Magazine. She was the first woman to be an Honorary Board Member of the International Alliance and received the Asian American Advocate Award by the National Council for Asian American Business. She was also the recipient of the Minority Business Special Advocate award by the Director of the Minority Business Development Agency, U.S. Department of Commerce.
In 2007, Edie was named as one of the Top 50 Pioneers in Diversity by Profiles in Diversity Journal and named in the top 46 of America's Top Diversity Advocates by DiversityBusiness.com—along with Oprah Winfrey, Presidents Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton and senior diversity leaders. She is on the Leadership Circle of The Sewall-Belmont House and Women's Campaign Forum; Co-chair of the Women's Senate Network; Leadership Committee of the Women's Campaign Forum. Edie is proud to serve on the Leadership Board for NFTE and Advisory Board of LATINAStyle and was presented with the LATINAStyle advocate award. She is serving on the Asian Division Friends Society (ADFS) Board of Directors of the Library of Congress.
Edie was awarded the first ever One-to-One Advocate Award for Supporting Women by the Women's Regional Publishers and received the Mentor of Distinction Award by the Women's Business and Professions Advisory Council. In addition, she has received awards from several government agencies and states including a special award from the State of Virginia. She was Past President of the National Association of Women Business Owners of the National Capital Area (NAWBO). She has been a partner of Women Impacting Public Policy (WIPP), and in 2007 she served as co-chair of the first WIPP Salute to Diversity. Edie served for many years on the Women's Business Center of Washington on the Women's Leadership Board, Harvard University Kennedy School of Government.
Edie is proud of the Thanksgiving release of the book Do Your Giving While You are Living, co-authored with Robyn Spizman, award-winning author and GLOW participant. Edie received the first-ever Lifetime Achievement Award at Linkage Conference. She is the recipient of the Big Brothers Public Service Award and the Big Brothers Most Outstanding Service Award. In her early professional life, Ms. Fraser received the United States Peace Corps Award and was Peace Corps Princess.
